Coin Information
The Franklin half dollar was minted from 1948 to 1963 and was based on designs by Mint’s chief engraver John R. Sinnock. The coin features Founding Father Benjamin Franklin with phrases “Liberty” and “In God We Trust” along the edge. To fulfill the legal requirements that half dollars display the figure of an eagle, a small eagle was placed to the right of the Liberty Bell on the reverse side. The Franklin half dollar was struck at the Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco mints.
